JP's Reaction to: "Pros and Cons of Social Networking"

Hi my name is Jackie and I am a social networking-aholic. They really should have meetings for people like me. Okay let’s start off by saying I’m not sure why but I do seem to sign up for almost EVERY social networking site. It all started with MySpace, then Facebook, and now Twitter.

Let me start off with the Pro’s and Con’s of MySpace and Facebook. Their main focuses for both sites are for friends to get together, but is that really what we use it for?

Pro’s

• A place to connect with old friends. (But think about it if we have to reconnect were we really connected in the first place? What about the old friends who don’t have Facebook? REALLY who doesn’t have Facebook what are you living under a rock!!!!!!)
• Meeting new people. (It was like the beginning of dating sites. Come on I really think we all met people from there, whether or not you met in person you added them as a friend and talked to them.)
• Easy place to stalk out ex’s or people you like. (Don’t lie we have all done this and probably still do. You break up with someone and are still friends with them online. You look at their page to see what they are doing, if they are dating, if they secretly miss you and want you back, you look at their pictures. Then if they are dating you totally critique their new significant other and then talk about it to all your friends. I don’t know if any guys do this, but girls do whether they admit it or not.)

Con’s

• Easy place to stalk. (Yes I know I said this is a pro, but it is also a con. Especially when you have creepers stalking you out. )
• Photos from the night before. (We all have those nights where we go out and don’t really want to remember it. But of course we will remember it because our friends brought their cameras and took so many pictures. The next morning you get an email from that you have been tagged in ______’s photos.)
• Employers. (With all this new technology our employers are looking us up on the internet to see what we are like. That is why we need to keep things on the internet PG.)

Twitter is also a new big thing! I have to admit I love twitter and a good tweet! I really don’t have any con’s of twitter. HAHA! I have one mega pro though and that is the reason I have it. You get to follow celebrities and see what they are doing. To be honest I really don’t care that they are at the gym or about to eat dinner. That stuff doesn’t interest me at all. The thing I care about is when they have a big announcement about something that will interest me. Like that NKOTB WILL be having their summer cruise! Yes that was of high excitement for me. Other than little things like that, twitter is okay. The gift and curse also of all these social networking sites is they are so readily available. I have an IPhone and have a Facebook and Twitter app on my phone. I am always signed on in case something big happens I won’t miss it. My final thoughts, ADD ME to Facebook & Follow Me on Twitter! HAHA!
